Madonna was born on August 16th, 1958 in Bay City, MI. Her full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone. In 1978, she left college to move to New York to pursue a dancing career and began preforming in several modern dance companies. She finally made it big when she released her first album in 1983, with the hits Holiday, Borderline, and You Must Be My Lucky Star. The following year, she released her album, Like A Virgin, and was soon a household name. Madonna has been married twice. First, to actor Sean Penn, and currently to British film maker, Guy Richie. She has appeared in several movies, including Desperately Seeking Susan, Who’s That Girl, and Evita, for which she won a Golden Globe Award. In 2000, Madonna won a Grammy for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture.
